Spring Break

Kevin and Jenna were both on Spring break this week. Derek wasn't, but he only has class on Monday and Wednesday. We stayed here in Virginia until Wednesday evening. My mom and I did our best to paint while trying to keep three kids distracted. That's a tough task. We didn't get nearly as far as we had hoped. She is back here for another day and a half. We'll see what we can get done tomorrow. Hopefully there will be pictures next week. (I know that I keep saying that, but that's because I keep thinking that we will be done).

Wednesday night we headed down to South Carolina to visit my brother and sister-in-law. My sister and her family, and my parents and grandparents all joined us there. My dad is turning 60 this week, so we all got together to celebrate. We had to do it a couple of days early because all the kids will be in school this week. We had a great time together. It is always fun to get together with the family.

On Thursday, after we had made it to South Carolina, Derek and I left our children with the family and headed to Cary, North Carolina. Derek had a job interview there on Friday. We stayed in a hotel and went out for BBQ. While Derek was at his interview I was able to attend the LDS temple, and do a little shopping (kid free!!!). It was great. The area is beautiful. I am glad that I got to see it. Who knows if he will get an offer, but we enjoyed it there. We should know by Friday where we are moving.

We headed back to S.C. on Friday evening. Saturday we had the birthday celebration.

My grandparent's brought Jared's birthday present with them. They bought him this huge pack of airplanes. It is pretty cool. They also bought him a really cool astronaut suit. They also got him gummy space ships (which he, surprisingly, shared with his cousins) and freeze dried ice cream (like they eat in space). It was very cool.

My grandma had shirts made for all the kids that said "My Grandpa is 60". They were really cute. Kevin looks miserable because he was. He ended up with strep throat again. Poor kid.

My Grandma also had a shirt made up for my dad that said "I'm 60 and proud of it."

While in S.C. we had professional photos done. They turned out pretty cute. While different family groups were getting their pictures taken Derek took pictures of the kids.

Last night when Derek and I went in our room to go to bed, we found Jenna snoring in this position:

We have no idea how she was able to hold herself in this position.

We are home now and back to the grindstone of getting the house ready to sell. Even though we worked so much the last three weeks, there is still a lot to do. Hopefully we will be able to sell the house, and this won't all be for naught.

Moment of Zen:

Derek was talking with Kevin about being faithful to your spouse (he had been teaching him about Joseph and Potiphar's wife). Derek was telling him that unless his wife dies, he is to stay with the same one. To that he replied "So, if my wife dies, I can get a replacement wife?"

Good luck with all the preparations! That's awesome you could all get together for your dad's bday.
